Lay-Led ServicesOur daily minyanim, both morning and evening and Shabbat afternoon, are lay-led. Opportunities to lead the davening are plentiful. There is an informal rotation which is managed by our shamash Irving Schnall. We follow the traditional custom of giving preference to mourners and those who are observing yartzeits. On Shabbat and holidays the honor of leading Psukei D'zimrah is often given to a congregant. Shacharit is usually led by the cantor and Musaf is shared among the rabbi, cantor or a congregant. Our Bnai Mitzvah are encouraged to lead as much of the service as they are capable. We especially encourage our teens to return to the bimah after their Bar/Bat Mitzvah to lead the congregation. In addition to the many times throughout the year where congregants can lead services, our summer schedule features an extensive lay-led service format, with individual congregants and families leading everything from Psukei D'zimrah to giving the D'var Torah.
