Cantor Friedrich

Cantor Steven Friedrich comes to Suburban Jewish Community Center - Bnai Aaron after having served at congregations in Salem, NJ, Turnersville, NJ, Merchantville, NJ, and for eleven years at Temple Israel of Upper Darby, Pa. He has studied the cantorial arts as a student of Cantor Seymour Schwartzman and Cantor Moshe Burger, as well as in the Cantorial program at Gratz College under the tutelage of Professor Sholom Altman and Dr. Irving Cohen.

Cantor Friedrich, a strong baritone, leads prayer in musical ranges that are comfortable for most people and in a style that encourages our congregants to join with him. He is also an accomplished teacher of Jewish music and Judaica, training our children as they work towards becoming Bnai Mitzvah, expanding the repertory of our choir, and encouraging all our congregants to grow in their knowledge of Judaism through a variety of classes in Nusach, Cantillation, Jewish music, Tanach, Jewish history and Jewish literature. Cantor Friedrich and his wife, Ann, have three sons.

SJCC Bnai Aaron serves all of the communities of the Main Line Philadelphia suburbs and Delaware County, including Wynnewood, Ardmore, Havertown, Haverford, Newtown Square, Broomall, Radnor, Upper Darby, Springfield, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, Rosemont, Villanova, St. David’s, Wayne, Devon, Berwyn, Media, Wallingford and Swarthmore.
